JAMAICA

  1. Business Registration Certificate This is required by law and, by extension, by the banks from which you’re going to collect the funds. This document also shows your business legitimacy. This service is offered by us. Click here to read more.
  2. Two business banking accounts One will be for collecting local payments and the other will be a USD account to collect international payments. Personal accounts are not qualified for use on an e-commerce website. The opening balance may vary depending on your bank’s preference.

NB: This process may take an average of 2-3 weeks to get done, depending on the bank and the requirements that they need for you to open the accounts.
  3. Sign up for a payment gateway account. Currently, there are 2 available to use in Jamaica directly; these are Wipay Caribbean and Fygaro. For this part, you’ll need to submit the first 2 items on this list along with your bio-data information in order to get your account approved. Once approved, your account credentials will be generated and plugged into your website.
  4. Securing your domain name A domain name refers to your website address. This is what users type in a browser’s search bar to directly access your website. Securing a domain will prevent others from taking it away from you and also prevent you from having to alter it to create a new name for an already existing domain with the same name. This can cost an average of $14 USD per year.
